Abstract
Background:Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a health problem in Indonesia. All areas in Indonesia have the risk of contracting DHF. Various ways of vector control have not succeeded yet in suppressing vector populations below the threshold value of transmission. The use of various types of ovitrap for vector control has been less effective as wellsince it is usually used only for the purpose of an entemology survey. The development of Sticky- Autocidal Mosquito Trap (SAMT) modification which is more enhanced than the previous ovitrap is equipped with nylon screen, adhesive and addition of water soaking hay attractant therefore it is more effective to kill Aedes spp.
Objectives: Comparing the ability of SAMT modification with Standard Ovitrap as Aedes aegypti trap in decreasing larva density (HI, CI, BI) and Transovarial Transmission Index (TTI) in dengue endemic area of Pontianak City.
Methods: using quasi experimental design namely Interrupted time series with a nonequivalent no-treatment control group time series. The population of the study subjects was Aedes aegypti mosquitoes at the research sites. The research unit was village. Purposive sampling was employed to select the research unit / location based on 5 criteria.
Results: there is a significant difference of mean of HI, CI and BI decrease significantly with p value; 0.047, 0.049, and 0.028, but there was no difference in mean TTI decrease with p value: 0.468.
Conclusion: There was a difference in the mean decrease of the larvae density index (HI, CI and BI), but there was no difference in the mean reduction of the transovarial transmission index between the intervening areas and the control area.

Keyword: Sticky Autocidal Mosquito Trap, larval index, Dengue Virus transovarial transmission
